SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — In the midst of the Coronavirus Crisis. the ground has been broken for Railyard Flats, the first project in Sioux Falls’ Downtown Rail Yard Redevelopment.
An optimistic Mayor Paul TenHaken helped at the virtual groundbreaking.
“There is a light at the end of the tunnel we are in, and projects will go on and development continue…”
Railyard Flats will be an 80,000 sqft, three-story, mixed-use complex along 8th Street. This is in the city’s East Bank section, part of the prime 10 acres purchased by then-Mayor Mike Huether’s administration from BNSF Railroad.
Developer Jeff Scherschlight was the driving force behind Cherapa Place along the Big Sioux River downtown, so he’s done this kind of thing before. He’s raring to go.
“Let’s get her done. Onward folks, and stay healthy.”
