SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Over 2,200 families have used money from the One Sioux Falls Fund to stay housed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Janet Kiddums of the Helpline Center said the effort was especially important given the number of people newly affected by housing insecurity.
“They’ve never been in this position before; they’ve never had to face not being able to pay their rent.”
Mayor Paul TenHaken established the fund on March 17 with support from the Helpline Center and the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation.
The fund has raised over $3.2 million to date, including $1 million in public money and a $1 million donation from billionaire T. Denny Sanford.
Those interested in donating to the fund can do so here.
Those interested in applying for assistance can do so at helplinecenter.org or by calling 211.
