RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO.com) — The COVID-19 peak in South Dakota isn’t expected until mid-June, but Rapid City may start re-opening businesses as early as next week.
Mayor Steve Allender says bars, restaurants and theaters would still have some restrictions.
“A minimum six-foot space between table, chairs, and barstools. Capacity limits in restaurants, bars, and casinos to ten people or one customer per 125 square feet.”
Allender says barber shops and beauty salons would also be allowed to open their doors under certain restrictions.
The city council will consider the Allender’s re-opening plan in a special session on Monday.
If the plan is approved, Rapid City would be the first community in South Dakota to start re-opening for business. Sioux Falls isn’t even thinking about it until after the expected peak of the coronavirus in May.
