SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A third Food Service Employee at the Minnehaha County Jail tested positive for COVID-19.
Summit Foods is the food service provider for the Jail. Both the Jail and Summit Foods have been in contact with the SD Department of Health and are following their recommendations.
The Food Service worker last worked on the morning of April 17th. The Jail and Summit Foods were notified of the second positive test today, April 21st.
Additionally, two inmate workers who worked alongside the Morning Shift Summit Employees have now tested positive for COVID-19. Both are Asymptomatic and were previously placed in Medical Contact Restriction prior to receiving the positive test results.
Jail Medical Staff continue to screen and assess other inmates who may have had contact with the Summit Foods Kitchen Employees.
“We have been working diligently to screen, assess and prevent the spread of any infectious disease, while this news is disappointing, we will continue to aggressively mitigate any further spread,” said Warden Mattson.
