SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls’ city tax revenue was up in the month of March compared to 2019, a report likely to be the last positive tax news for a while as the city braces for the coronavirus’ economic impact.
Sales revenue in March was up about 6% compared to a year ago. General revenue in March was over $1 million greater than in 2019.
Next month’s update probably won’t be so rosy. City Finance Director Shawn Pritchett has told the council he expects a deep revenue drop in April as the economy slows down during the pandemic.
The City Council will hear more about the numbers at an informational meeting Tuesday at 4 p.m. Read the full report here.
