SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School District is keeping in touch with parents and students via email every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Here is the email from Monday, April 6, 2020:
Hello Sioux Falls School District Staff and Families – We hope you had a nice weekend! The COVID-19 situation continues to evolve and SFSD is proud to support prevention efforts for the health and safety of our community. Today, Sioux Falls Mayor Paul Ten Haken implemented a Safer At Home Proclamation. See the attached infographic to better understand how this should change behaviors.
+ Today, Governor Kristi Noem extended her school closure recommendation through the end of the school year. The Sioux Falls School District will follow that direction. Later this week, we will share more information about what this means for spring activities and milestone events.
+ Remote learning continues for K-12 students. Please reach out to your teacher or school if you need support. It is important that students remain engaged in learning even if they are not in the traditional classroom.
+ Starting Tuesday, April 7, 2020, all SFSD schools and sites will be closed to the general public. Drop off and pick up stations will be established in the front entrance of each building and can be accessed from 10 am-1 pm on school days to limit interaction. Phones and emails will be answered during school hours. Reminder: Students do not have class on Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13.
+ On Friday, the CDC released new guidelines for employees who come in contact with the public. The District is seeking donations of cloth masks for staff who are preparing and delivering meals and school materials at the six school sites and on identified bus routes. (Meals continue) Staff are also caring for children of patient-facing healthcare providers and can benefit. Donations of completed cloth masks can be placed in the tote outside the north side of the IPC, 201 E. 38th St.
Be Well. #ProudToBeSFSD
