SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Authorities are investigating an afternoon house fire at 1124 North Minnesota Avenue.
The house was not occupied at the time.
There was extensive smoke and heat damage to the house.
It took Sioux Falls Fire Rescue to extinguish the blaze.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota: At 1:30 p.m. on Monday April 6th, 2020, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of a home on fire. The initial report was that no one was inside the home but there was still one cat inside.
The first arriving fire crew found smoke coming from roof vents on what appeared to be a story and a half residential home. They confirmed with the home owner that the house was now unoccupied and then made entry. Crews were able to confine the fire to the kitchen and then extinguish the fire within ten minutes of being on scene. There were no injuries reported by either the occupant or the responders. The home sustained significant smoke and heat damage to the main floor. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 4 fire trucks and 15 personnel and were augmented through automatic mutual aid by 1 South Dakota Air National Guard fire engine with an additional 4 personnel. They were assisted on scene by Metro Communications, Sioux Falls Police Department, PCLS ambulance, Mid-American Energy, and Xcel Energy.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would remind residents to test their smoke detectors monthly, check the detector’s expiration.
