MADISON, S.D. (KELO.com) — If you live in Madison or Brookings and your child has a birthday in April or May the fire departments in both communities want to hear from you.
The departments will visit your home with lights and sirens to wish your child a happy birthday and let the entire neighborhood know it’s your child’s special day.
Due to home isolation, the firefighters and police officers are trying to help make the birthday a little more special.
At this time the visit will not include a ride on a fire truck or in a police car, and the first responders will not be exiting the vehicles but the departments think it will help brighten the child’s day.
In Madison please contact Fire Chief Randy Minnaert by calling (605) 256-7523 between 8:00 am and 5 pm M-F.
In Brookings, you can call (605) 692- 6323 or email pbolzer@cityofbrookings.org between 8:00 am and 5 pm.
