SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — At a special meeting yesterday, the Sioux Falls City Council unanimously approved the first reading of a measure extending the current “no lingering” ordinance to April 22.
The second reading will be considered at the city council meeting Tuesday, April 7th.
The “no lingering ordinance” says that no more than 10 patrons may be on the premises of a place of business at one time. This applies to certain types of businesses such as bars and restaurants.

While it was not on Wednesday’s meeting agenda, discussion among some councilors discussed the possibility that the mayor’s administration may propose even tougher measures.
Mayor Paul Ten Haken said during the meeting, “We as an administration haven’t even talked about this (more stringent measures). We haven’t even sat down and had a conversation about shelter in place or curfew, and what that would look like in our city.”
The mayor said his administration would meet today to discuss any additional future COVID-19 measures.
This is a clarification of an earlier story about yesterday’s meeting.
