PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The second death from COVID-19 in South Dakota brings the question of just how many deaths can the state expect before this is all over.
State Health Chief Kim Malsam-Rysdon gives a worst-case range based on models that can change by the day.
“The death rate associated with those models range from 0.5 percent all the way up to 3 percent.”
She says the situation is just too fluid to predict specific numbers.
The Trump Administration has been estimating that over 200,000 people could die nationwide before this crisis ends.
17 people have died so far in Minnesota. Iowa also has reported some deaths.
