SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls is considering asking people to move their garbage cans to the curb to help sanitation workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
The city says garbage collectors “have informed the City that they are already experiencing workforce reduction problems stemming from the impacts of COVID-19,” like school closures and quarantines.
The proposed change asks people to move garbage and recycling containers curbside on pickup day and back to “an inconspicuous place between pickup days.” It doesn’t affect garbage pickup schedules.
The city council will consider it at a special meeting Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
