SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society will be closed to the public starting Wednesday due to concerns about COVID-19, the shelter announced Tuesday evening.
Staff will still care for the animals on-site while the shelter is closed to the public.
“Please be assured that we will not, under any circumstance, leave an animal in harm’s way,” the organization said in a Facebook post announcing the closure.
The Humane Society said it had been working to increase adoptions in the lead-up to the closure, and 55 animals were adopted over the past week.
