SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Social distancing has come to the daily Sioux Falls Police briefing.
Public Information Officer Sam Clemens sent out the following notice to the City’s press corps:
- In order to keep the number of people at the press conference at or under 10 people, only one person from each news outlet will be permitted at briefing (photog or reporter, not both). To ensure we are maintaining a 6-foot social distancing rule, the tables were removed along with most of the chairs. We’ve tried to free as much room as possible to allow people to spread out and maintain a 6-foot social distance.
Normally, it’s the “usual suspects” from the city’s media at the briefing. However, with the briefings also involving City officials like the Mayor or the City’s public health director concerning the coronavirus, the gaggle of journalists and photographers can grow. That’s not to mention when there is a briefing after a major crime, such as the recent stabbing death.
