SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Working at KELO Radio and our sister stations in Sioux Falls means a number of people throughout the day use the same keyboards and microphone in the same studios.
It’s a little bit like a “hot bunk” in the Navy, where when one person gets up, another person goes to bed in the same bunk.
To decrease the risk of infection, Midwest Communications Radio management has implemented a number of safeguards–some are the same as other businesses, some are unique.
- On-air staff can each have their own “muff” or “windscreen” for studio and other microphones.
- Disinfecting wipes are available for use before and after air shifts.
- Nitrile gloves are available for those who don’t want to touch studio surfaces.
- Practice constant hand washing.
In addition, staff are to stay home if they are sick.
With a little luck, these steps will keep us on the air and letting you know what’s going on with the coronavirus threat.
