SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Michael Leonard Schuldt, The 74-year old man whose fire pit inferno escalated into a grass fire, has died.
After his fire pit’s blaze expanded into the nearby grass, he tried to put the fire out on his own and suffered severe burns from head to toe. Sioux Falls and Hartford fire rescue responded to the fire at around noon Sunday on Sands Street in rural Sioux Falls.
When authorities arrived, the severely burned man was conscious and able to tell them what happened. The fire is under investigation.
