SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police release a few more details about the capture of murder suspect Jahennessy Deunique LaPaul Bryant yesterday (Wednesday) in east Sioux Falls.
Police Lt. Terrance Matia says they believed Domino’s Pizza delivery driver Casey Bonhorst was killed in a “crime of opportunity.”
Matia says it was a robbery gone bad and Bonhorst was “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Matia also says that when Bryant was arrested, there were several others with him.
They were arrested on unrelated charges. Bryant was taken in without incident early yesterday afternoon in an apartment complex on East 26th Stree,, according to Matia.
Matia says the homicide does not appear to be gang-related. He also noted that the $25,000 reward put up by the ATF and Domino’s Pizza also played a key role in obtaining information.
Matia said he was limited to what he could reveal because of advice from the state’s attorney and that he wished to protect the safety of witnesses in the case. He says the investigation into the murder will continue up until trial if there is one.
Bryant is scheduled for a first appearance in Minnehaha Circuit Court early this afternoon. He is accused of two counts of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree murder, and one count of manslaughter.
