SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning–the first of the spring–for the area near Interstate 90.
The NWS warned, “(The Big Sioux River will) Rise above flood stage by 12 AM Thursday and continue to rise to near 13.5 feet by 1 PM Monday. Additional rises are possible thereafter.”
The flood stage is 12.0 feet. Flooding at 13.5 feet would cause minor flooding. However, the NWS says if the flood stage increases to 15.0 feet, “Some farm buildings between Renner and Sioux Falls are threatened by high water.”
Last spring and summer, Renner and Dell Rapids were hard hit by flooding from snowmelt then rains.
