SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Exports from the state of Minnesota dropped slightly from 2018 to 2019, according to a new report from the state Department of Employment and Economic Development.
State exports dropped from a record-high $22.7 billion in 2018 to $22.2 billion the following year, the state says.
A drop in exports to Asia largely drove the decline. State exports to China, the state’s second-largest international trade partner, dropped 9%. Exports to North America were largely unchanged, with a slight gain in exports to Mexico offsetting a dip in exports to Canada.
In a release, DEED Commissioner Steve Grove called international exports “a critically important part of Minnesota’s economy.”
