University of Sioux Falls men’s coach Chris Johnson is the Northern Sun Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to their first southern division title in the school’s eight seasons in the league.
USF went 17-5 in league play, the second best mark out of 16 teams, after losing two of the top six scorers in the NSIC last year and being picked to finish 10th in the preseason poll.
Cougars sophomore forward Chase Grinde joins Augustana junior forward Tyler Reimersma on the All-NSIC first team.
Sioux Falls junior forward Teathloach Pal made the second team, while USF freshman Jack Thompson was honorable mention.
Other NSIC men’s awards:
Player of the Year – Brandon Myer, Minnesota-Duluth (senior foward, 25 points, 9.5 rebounds)
Defensive Player of the Year – Parker Fox, Northern State (sophomore forward)
Freshman of the Year – Ryland Holt, Minnesota State (forward)
Newcomer of the Year – Kelby Kramer, Minnesota State (sophomore center)
