SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Gov. Kristi Noem signed a bill aimed at combatting zebra mussels in South Dakota Wednesday.
The law will require people to decontaminate their boats by cleaning and draining them after they get out of the water.
It also allows the state Game, Fish and Parks Department to set up inspection stations to combat the mussels and other invasive species.
“The legislation I signed today takes steps to prevent the spread of invasive species and keep our natural treasures safe for the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts,” Noem said in a release.
