MITCHELL, S.D. (KELO.com) — Donald DeGrood, new Bishop for the Sioux Falls Diocese toured the Mitchell area last week.
The new leader spent Thursday in the Mitchell area visiting the Carmelite sister in Alexandria, students at John Paul Two, Avera Queen of Peace and Avera Brady and celebrated Mass at HolyFamily followed by a reception.
As an altar boy in nearby Faribault, Minnesota, DeGrood developed his desire to become a priest.
He says he is pleased with his new assignment and asks for prayers.
DeGrood was appointed by Pope Francis back in December and ordained a Bishop and installed last week.
The Sioux Falls Diocese covers east-river South Dakota.
