LINCOLN, Neb. (KELO.com) – Jana Lazarevic posted a victory at No. 1 singles, but South Dakota women’s tennis fell to Colorado State 6-1 in a dual match played Saturday at the Dillon Tennis Center.
Lazarevic, a junior, moved to 6-3 in the spring with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Emily Luetschwager.
All six singles matches went straight sets while Colorado State earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
The Coyote doubles dup of Habiba Aly and Agustina Diaz posted a win at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, over Emma Corwin and Anastasiia Kotsyuba.
“Colorado State played better and deserved to win today,” coach Brett Barnett said. “This match was about the chances we didn’t convert. We had a lot of looks and opportunities on each court and did a poor job closing things out. No. 3 doubles played great today and won quick. Excellent performance by Jana beating a tough opponent and finding a way to win.”
The Coyotes (1-8) have two weeks off before its next match which will take place in Turlock, California, against Stanislas State.
