SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A first-of-its-kind website to help the hungry has been launched in Sioux Falls.
www.siouxfallshunger.com connects hungry people with food in a new way.
The website keeps track of where feeding programs are on any given day. Since they can change locations and change dates with little notice, this online calendar will help provide food to those who need it more efficiently. The website also lets groups that want to donate food know where to go and when.
The Faith Temple Food Giveaway is funding and maintaining the website, but it’s a community effort involving business, non-profits, churches, and on and on.
“Many churches and non-profit entities receive dozens of requests each day asking about feeding programs happening that day,” explains Faith Temple Church Pastor Jeff Hayes, “Many programs change location or may not have a consistent schedule. This website will make it easier to connect those who are hungry with food, right away.”
The new effort includes decals that you can put on your vehicle or up at your business to raise community awareness.
