WASHINGTON (KELO.com) — South Dakota political leaders applaud today’s deadly American drone strike on Iran’s secretive Quds Force leader, Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, near the Baghdad International Airport.
Soleimani was considered to be one of the most powerful political figures in Iran. President Donald Trump accused him of killing many American and innocent civilians in Middle East conflicts.
Most of the Congressional delegation and Gov. Kristi Noem took to Twitter today with their thoughts.
Sen. Mike Rounds @SenatorRounds:
- Yesterday’s airstrike against Qassem Soleimani – head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization – was a necessary action designed to protect Americans from anticipated attacks that he was directly involved in planning.
Sen. John Thune @SenJohnThune:
- The world is a better place without Qassem Soleimani. With his removal, Iran has the opportunity to change course.
Kristi Noem @KristiNoem:
-
Last night Qassem Soleimani, one of the world’s most brutal terrorists, was eliminated by the U.S. military. I applaud @POTUS for his willingness to show Iran and the rest of the world we will not tolerate any terrorist threats against our citizens.
Rep. Dusty Johnson had no posts on Facebook or Twitter about the attack on Soleimani.
