HARRISBURG, S.D. (KELO.com) — Deputies responded to a complex hit-and-run incident that occurred in the NE part of Harrisburg early this morning. The incident involved roughly 14 city blocks. Deputies discovered that a vehicle drove through several yards, over sidewalks, over snow banks, through construction areas, through a Christmas display and over a set of mailboxes.
With the help of citizens in the neighborhood, authorities were able to locate the suspect vehicle’s bumper and license plate which helped identify the vehicle. The vehicle was located at a residence nearby, but the driver was not immediately located. After speaking with other witnesses, collecting physical evidence, collecting video surveillance and conducting interviews, deputies subsequently identified the driver and arrested her. She is identified as a 24-year-old female from Harrisburg and was charged with DUI, reckless driving, intentional damage to private property and misc. other charges.
