SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) —
A woman and her husband were in separate traffic accidents but near one another late last night.
The woman was struck by a hit and run driver near 12th and Marion.
A police officer arrived to investigation.
Then, the woman’s husband pulled up in his pickup.
Suddenly, a car crossed lanes of traffic, heading for the officer and the woman.
The officer pushes the woman out of the way but he injures his arm.
The third car runs into the husband’s truck.
That driver who hit the officer and the truck is Karen Mae Hurkes, 20, from Sioux Falls. She is facing drug charges, vehicular battery, and DUI.
The suspect, husband, and wife were unharmed. The officer was treated and released at a local hospital.
