SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Students in Sioux Falls are doing better on the ACT.
The average ACT score in the district is up to its highest level in eight years, according to numbers presented to the school board Tuesday.
Students in the district averaged a composite score of 23 on the test this past school year. That’s better than the rest of the state and over two points clear of the national average.
The district also saw an uptick in ACT participation. About 68 percent of graduates last school year took the test.
School board member Nan Baker said the scores speak to the work of teachers.
“It’s really work that goes unrecognized,” Baker said.
