SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — KELO Radio listeners who responded to a survey say crime, infrastructure, and wages are their top concerns in Sioux Falls and the Tri-State (S.D. Minn., and Iowa) region.
The short survey was emailed to likely KELO Radio listeners and was available on the KELO Radio webpage, Facebook page, and Twitter page. It was not a scientific survey.
The results:
- Crime 18.64%
- Infrastructure, i.e. bridges, roads, etc.16.95%
- Wages, i.e., low wages, availability of full-time work, etc.16.95%
- Taxes/Government Spending 13.56%
- Agriculture, i.e., low commodity prices, trade wars, etc. 8.47%
- ResponsesOther (please specify) 8.47%
- Governmental Regulation 6.78%
- Weather, i.e., changing weather patterns, damage from storms, flooding 6.78%
- Education, i.e., quality, affordability, etc.3.39%
Demographically, the results skewed male (73% men 27% women) and older (69%, 45-years-old plus).
Also, respondents were asked if they would like to serve on a news focus group. That will be another step in KELO.com News’ ascertainment of key community concerns. The results will help shape future KELO.com News coverage of local issues.
