WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO.com) — South Dakota’s Dusty Johnson wasn’t among the House Republicans that tried to break into a secret impeachment hearing on Wednesday, but he supports them.
“People have been denied access to basic information that historically has been made available to members. They want to hear what these witnesses are saying. That doesn’t seem out of line with me.”
Johnson has taken less dramatic action to try to get more information on what’s going on. He says he has written a letter to Chairman Adam Schiff, demanding a copy of some key, but still-secret testimony. It’s what former U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine, Kurt Volker, testified behind closed doors.
“That’s an official mechanism we’re trying to utilize to get better insight.”
Despite all the complaining about what he calls unfair hearings, Dusty acknowledges that the House will eventually vote to send President Trump to the U.S. Senate for trial. He says a majority of Democrats have already made up their minds.
