SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The City of Sioux Falls is going to see how much trimming trees in the boulevard in front of homes might cost the taxpayers.
Right now, individual homeowners themselves are responsible.
“They have agreed to do a pilot project just to see how much it’s actually going to cost for the city to go out and trim these trees,” says City Councilor Theresa Stehly. Stehly has long thought that free tree trimming in the boulevards is something the city should provide citizens.
The pilot project will be conducted along several streets in the Hllltop area of the city.
“….to see if this is something we could feasibly do for our residents,” says Stehly.
Right now, the city notifies a homeowner that a boulevard tree must be trimmed. The homeowner can hire a private contractor or the city will do it for a minimum of $150.
