As Jackrabbit fans know well, last week was not a bye week for the FCS No. 3 South Dakota State football team.
It was “Improvement Week,” as 23rd year head coach John Stiegelmeier likes to call it.
So, what improved? Most importantly, how much has the injured hand of freshman quarterback J’Bore Gibbs improved?
Find out today at 3:20 when “Coach Stig” joins KWSN’s “Sports Talk with Craig & John” for his weekly interview.
Gibbs returned to action in SDSU’s most recent game, a 43-7 home win over Southern Utah, after sitting out the Jacks’ second and third games. Gibbs compled 15-of-24 passes for 215 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, but did not attempt one rush.
That was by design, Steigelmeier told “Craig & John” last Monday.
SDSU starts its Missouri Valley Football Conference slate with a home game against Southern Illinois on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Brookings for “Hobo Day.”
The game can be heard in the Sioux Falls area on 105.1 FM, 107.9 FM, and 1320-AM KELO.
My UTV will televise the game. For more information on how to find My UTV, click here.
The Salukis (2-2) were picked to finish 9th out of 10 teams in the league in the preseason poll conducted by coaches, media, and media relations directors.
