SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Unemployment is down in Sioux Falls, according to a generally positive report presented to the City Council Tuesday.
Sioux Falls Finance Director Shawn Pritchett reported an unemployment rate of 2.1%, about half of the national average. Pritchett said unemployment in Sioux Falls is as low as it’s been in about a decade.
The report also documented news rising housing prices in Sioux Falls. Pritchett said the median price of a home in Sioux Falls has risen to about $217,000, an increase of about $100,000 from 2003.
Pritchett also told the Council the latest sales tax revenue is coming in higher than projected.
