SIOUX FALLS — Augustana linebacker T.J. Liggett earned his first career Northern Sun conference Defensive Player of the Week honor.
The sophomore from Rosemount, Minn., led the Vikings with nine tackles (seven solo) in a 26-13 victory over Wayne State on Saturday in Sioux Falls. Liggett also forced two fumbles, the second of which led to points, and added a quarterback hurry.
The Vikings only allowed 50 rushing yards to WSC, which should give them confidence heading into Thursday’s “Key to the City Game” against neighborhood rival University of Sioux Falls.
The Cougars racked up 358 rushing yards in a 51-7 smothering at Southwest Minnesota State, and that was without All-America running back Gabe Watson, who sat out with a pulled hamstring.
USF hopes to have the 2018 Div. II national rushing champion ready for Thursday’s home clash with the Vikings, which will kick off at 6:05 p.m. at Bob Young Field.
KWSN, 98.1 FM, 1230-AM, and KWSN.COM, will carry the game, starting with a 5:30 p.m. pregame.
You can also hear the game on the FREE KWSN mobile app.
Augie coach Jerry Olszewski will join KWSN’S “Craig & John” on Thursday at 3:20 p.m.
USF coach Jon Anderson will appear on that show on Wednesday at 3:20 p.m.
