BRUCE, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Brookings man swerved to miss another vehicle that crossed into his lane of traffic and forced him into a ditch full of water.
Damon Becker, 21, was traveling east on a county road when an unknown vehicle came into his lane. Becker swerved but ended up in the watery ditch.
The other vehicle, believed to be a Chevy Avalanche, did not stop.
An ambulance took Becker to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.

On the above date and time the Bruce Fire Dept., Brookings Ambulance, and Brookings County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported injury accident at the above location. It was found that 21 year old Damon Becker was traveling eastbound on 204th St. near 460th Ave., when an unknown vehicle that he believed to be a Chevy Avalanche that was traveling westbound came into his lane of traffic. He swerved to avoid a collision and entered the south ditch and into a body of water. Damon was transported to the Brookings Hospital by the Brookings Ambulance with unknown injuries. The vehicle that came into his lane of traffic never stopped and is unknown at this time. The accident is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
