SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A park shelter roof south of Journey Elementary School near LaQuinta and 77th Streets tells a twister tale of Tuesday night’s tornado.
The shelter sits just south of the elementary school, with the open-air structure tilted slightly to the southwest.
The south side of roof had almost all of the shingles blown off by the EF-2 tornado, estimated by the National Weather Service at 125 mph.
But just on the other side of the pitched roof that faces northeast, nary a shingle was missing.
