SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — After a trio of tornadoes touched down in Sioux Falls Tuesday night, damaging many businesses and homes. Wendy Dooley, marketing director at the 211 Helpline Center partnered with The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation to aid in relief efforts shared what the Tornado Recovery fund is, how it works and how you can help.
“Last spring when we had flooding, The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation put together a fund and they did that again this year, Dooley said. What they did with the funds last year was to find individuals with a significant amount of damage to their properties or could not afford to pay for additional repair cost after insurance had paid. So individuals could apply to that fund and that will be the same process announced down the road with this fund.”
Donations to the Sioux Falls Tornado Recovery Fund can be made online or can be delivered to the Community Foundation’s office, located at 200 N. Cherapa Place in downtown Sioux Falls.
People seeking help after Tuesday night’s tornado damage are urged to call the 211 Helpline. Individuals looking to help should not only call the Helpline but show up to the Helpline facility, located at 1000 N West Ave Suite 310, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
