SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Southern and central Sioux Falls are cleaning up this morning after a round of severe weather hammered the city just before midnight Tuesday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Phil Schumacher says the system formed Tuesday afternoon west of the Missouri River and moved east spawning one tornado near Avon.
The storm damaged buildings and homes, downed trees and powerlines and included localized flooding.
Schumacher says there’s a risk of severe thunderstorms and heavy rain across the region this evening.
