PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The major phone companies have agreed to do more to block robocalls.
South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg is grateful for the help.
“These calls continue to harass, annoy and scam the people of South Dakota and this is a significant step in the right direction.”
Verizon, Sprint and the other companies have agreed to do more to block robocalls at the network level and to provide free blocking tools to their wireless customers.
Ravnsborg says the agreement will make it easier for him to prosecute robocallers.
It’s the result of a public/private coalition between 51 Attorneys General and 11 phone companies.
