SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Tear down the Sioux Falls Arena. Greatly expand the Convention Center. Eventually, tear down the Sioux Falls Baseball Stadium.
Those are the highlights of the final report of the special task force that’s been studying the future of the aging buildings around the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Task Force Co-Chair Ryan Pidde says the group feels the baseball stadium is simply too old to keep going.
“We are a baseball town, but when we look at the campus and look at the year 2040, we see a baseball stadium located somewhere else in town.”
That was the lens through which the task force looked – what the Denny campus should look like in 2040.
“We see an expanded convention center space, additional hotels, more parking and, hopefully, a vibrant community in and around the events center campus.”
Pidde expects that Mayor Paul TenHaken will be getting the final recommendations in the coming days, certainly before the end of August.
The Events Center Campus Study Group met over many months, hearing from all facets of the Sioux Falls community.
Where should the next Sioux Falls baseball stadium be if the Bird Cage is torn?
