SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — There’s finally some action at the Downtown Railyard property in Sioux Falls, years after it was purchased by the city.
City Urban Planner Dustin Powers tells Kelo Radio News that the city is negotiating with a local company that proposes a mixed-use development.
“Located between 6th and 8th Streets, part of the rail yard, about four acres of property there, with an entity here in town, Cherapa Place and Pender Associates, LLC.”
Powers says the proposal includes a mix of commercial and residential, along with parking and underground parking.
The city purchased the prime ten acres back in 2015, but it’s been slow going since then with only one proposal, which eventually fell through.
“We knew it wasn’t going to be developed in a day. Development downtown specifically, and development in general, takes time.”
