WASHINGTON (KELO.com) — Mayors from more than 200 U.S. cities have sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell urging him to call the Senate back from its August recess to discuss legislation which would widen background checks on gun purchases.
Senator John Thune says he doubts the Senate will return from its break early.
The Senator does think that gun legislation will be discussed this fall.
“The focus is how we deter this type of behavior from these individuals,” Thune said.
The legislation has already passed in the House of Representatives.
