SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — It was a case of mistaken identity that turned into an assault.
Sioux Falls Police say a woman got into a car driven by Staci Lynn Wilkins of Sioux Falls.
Wilkins mistakenly thought the woman, also from Sioux Falls, who got into her car was someone she didn’t like. Wilkins was mistaken–she didn’t know the victim.
Police say Wilkins then assaulted the victim–while driving.
The victim tried to escape and was dragged behind the car for a ways.
The vehicle then crashed into a utility pole, sending both women to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities charged Wilkins with several counts, including aggravated assault and DWI.
