SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — National Night Out has become a very powerful night across the country.
Sioux Falls participates once again Tuesday, August 9th.

The National Association of Town Watch developed National Night Out more than 30 years ago. Today, it involves thousands of communities and millions of people around the world. Sioux Falls Neighborhood Watch Groups and the Sioux Falls Police Department will host our annual Sioux Falls National Night Out on Tuesday evening, August 6, 2019.
Neighborhoods across the nation will lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors. This year we have several neighborhoods hosting special events such as block parties, cookouts, and will receive visits from the Police, Fire/Rescue, and other City Departments.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs. It will also strengthen neighborhood spirit, police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and know what to look for.
National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive, and enjoyable program to promote community and police partnerships in our fight for a safer community. The benefits that Sioux Falls will receive from National Night Out extend well beyond this night.
