The Minnesota Vikings released former South Dakota State guard Tiano Papungatoa on Thursday.
Papungatoa signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in April, was cut after rookie mini-camp, then signed again with the team as part of the 90-man training camp roster on the same day the Vikings cut troubled running back Roc Thomas.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Hastings (MN) native was a three-year starter for the Jackrabbits and was a third-team All-American his senior season.
The Vikings claimed third-year guard Taylor Catalina — who spent the last two seasons with Washington — on Thursday.
