PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — A focus on accomplishments while in office. That’s the best description of today’s State of the State Address by Governor Kristi Noem. Part of her focus was one of her favorite subjects…the South Dakota economy under her watch.
Among the first items she addressed was her proposal to create Education Savings accounts, or a voucher program for K-12 Students.
That proposal has already generated plenty of opposition from several education groups – most recently the Sioux Falls Board of Education last night. Her address didn’t provide details of policy recommendations like normal. Instead, it was as much a farewell as it was a State of the State Address. Now, Governor Noem is off to Washington, D.C. for her confirmation hearing tomorrow as the nominee for Secretary of Homeland Security in the Trump Administration.
