WASHINGTON – (KELO.com) — U.S. Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) will join Vice President Mike Pence in Iowa tomorrow for a discussion with faith leaders from around the state and a Food and Ag Industry Leaders Roundtable at the Hy-Vee Inc. Headquarters.
Ernst and Grassley will travel on Air Force Two with the Vice President.
“I look forward to having Vice President Pence back in Iowa and participating in these important discussions about how we’re working to protect the health and safety of Iowa’s families and communities while getting our state back on its feet. From our federal partners to our state and local leaders across Iowa, we continue to take an all-hands-on-deck approach to tackling this pandemic. Together, we will get through this,” said Senator Joni Ernst.
“I’m glad to welcome Vice President Pence and Secretary Perdue to Iowa. There’s much work to be done and the pandemic is disrupting all of our communities. I look forward to discussing ongoing issues affecting producers and our food supply chain in Iowa and throughout the country. It’s important to hear directly from those who help feed the nation and the world,” Senator Chuck Grassley said.
On Friday, May 8th, Vice President Pence will travel to Des Moines, Iowa. There, the Vice President will participate in a discussion with faith leaders about how they are using Federal and State guidelines to open their houses of worship in a safe and responsible manner. That afternoon, the Vice President will visit Hy-Vee headquarters for a roundtable discussion with agriculture and food supply leaders to discuss steps being taken to ensure the food supply remains secure. Later that evening, the Vice President will return to Washington, D.C.
