WASHINGTON, DC (KELO.com) — Pressure from Congress is causing a delay in changes at mail processing centers in South Dakota. Republican Senator Mike Rounds calls it a step in the right direction to protect rural mail service across the state. The Postal Service wants to move mail processing out of the centers in Sioux Falls and Huron to Omaha and Fargo. Todd West, the President of the South Dakota Postal Workers Union, says the main impact will be slower local mail delivery.
Senators Rounds and Thune joined Congressman Dusty Johnson in protesting the changes.
