<strong>
It’s the Remodelers Show—and there are some
good headlines this morning for this monthly show.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Paul Nelsen—SD State President has been in
meetings on housing what will he have to share. Apparently there was so much
that he couldn’t address just one issue – UNTIL we go on the air at 9:07.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Among the national headlines—“Rumors of the
death of the housing market MAY be Exaggerated.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Some are saying the housing market has
shifted to buyer’s market. The basis—nationwide—apparently 14% of the listings
in June had undergone a price cut—that’s up from a recent low of 11.7% at the
end of 2016—according to Zillow.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Home price growth is slowing in nearly half
of the 35 largest US Metro markets.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
But in the Sioux Empire and South Dakota—the recent
report card show still was showing more demand for housing than housing
available.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
The National Association of Home Builders
says that we have a slow to launch millennials who are option to stay at home
with mom and dad—thus leading to about 2.4 million fewer households forming.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
House Speaker Mark Mickelson has a Special
Session scheduled to begin September 12
<sup>
th
</sup>
or so—it involved the
internet and more money that could be coming from the Wayfair Supreme Court
Case.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Chances are Mickelson, Nelsen, Mr. Swenson
will want to weigh in on South Dakota and Minnesota being ranked #1 and #2 in
States with the Best Community College Systems. North Dakota was 7
<sup>
th
</sup>
—Nebraska
18
<sup>
th
</sup>
.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Lake Area Tech was ranked #11 nationwide.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Butch Warrington—Permit Chief City of Sioux
Falls—had to pre-record late Friday because of meetings this morning— but
you’ll find that the City is still on trend to set another record in 2018
—and experts –at least those saying they are experts – expect 2019 to be even
better.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Steve Swenson—the Handyman will be talking
about the difference from summer to fall with those needing Handyman materials.
</strong>
</p>
<p>
<strong>
Also in the show—Jodi Schwan—Sioux Falls
Business Journal with the latest business news to expect this week and Greg
Conrad—Sanford International —the Monday morning scoop on who else is
coming to the first PGA Professional event to play in South Dakota. Who’s
coming—what else is being added—particularly after Fox Sports last night did
a 30 minute show on the tournament itself.
</strong>
