SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in identifying the suspects in an early morning ATM robbery in Volga.
Shortly before 2 A.M. on Tuesday, the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to an alarm at the ATM of a bank.
Assistance was immediately requested from the Brookings Police Department and South Dakota State University Police Department.
Upon their arrival, authorities discovered a suspects used a stolen Ford F-250 from a business in Brookings, to damage the ATM.
Once damaged, an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the machine and the suspects fled the scene.
This event is likely part of a series of ATM burglaries which have been occurring over the last several months in the area.
During the previous events, several vehicles are used including a stolen vehicle from a local business.
One vehicle acts as a lookout while the other commits the crime.
In this case, it is believed a white SUV was used as the lookout vehicle and can be seen in the area just prior to the crime.
The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is requesting businesses and residents in the area, especially Washington Rd., Second St., and Hansina Ave. to check their surveillance footage for any information that could lead to an arrest. The suspect vehicle is presumed to be licensed out of Colorado.
The F-250 used in the commission of the crime was recovered near 2nd S.t and Marvin Ave. in Volga.
