The Stampede season ends, rebuilding begins

by Mark Brown

Jim Olander, voice of the Sioux Falls Stampede, was the guest on the Greg Belfrage Show.

The Sioux Falls Stampede era at the Arena officially ended Thursday night as the Waterloo Black Hawks overwhelmed the Herd in a 7-2, Game 3 victory viewed by 3,551 fans, eliminating Sioux Falls from the Clark Cup Playoffs and completing the three-game sweep. Zeb Knutson and C.J. Franklin provided the offense for the Herd, who will move to the brand new Denny Sanford Premier Center this fall for the 2014-15 season. Waterloo used four power play scores on the night to seal the win and finished the best-of-five series with a 20-9 goal advantage over the Herd, who simply could not keep up with the red-hot Black Hawk offense.

The Stampede want to invite the best fans in the USHL to a sendoff party for the Stampede players this Saturday from 12:30 PM to 2 PM. Fans can enjoy hot dogs, burgers and chips compliments of the club while getting one final chance to see the players before they head home for the summer.

The Stampede finished with the fifth best record in the USHL and made the playoffs for the 11th time in franchise history. Come help us celebrate the season and say goodbye to the players one final time.

This event will be located inside the Birdcage at Sioux Falls Stadium. We hope you can make it!
